A user asked, will I be wrong for selling my friend’s taylor swift ticket?

The Original Poster (OP) sat in that awful Ticketmaster queue for literally 7 hours, fighting for her life to get them tickets to a show. She won’t specify the show because of the fear of her friend seeing this, but here are the details:

When she got the tickets, OP’s friend and OP were super close. However, she’s become extremely rude and honestly passive-aggressive towards OP as of late. OP tried to ask her if she had done something, but she always said no.

OP says, “I’ve also tried not to let it bother me, but now I’m aware from other people that she constantly talks trash about me behind my back. I believe this is her boyfriend encouraging it because he’s an awful person too, but she continues this behavior even when he isn’t around to see it.

For example, she’ll tell me I didn’t do something right, and if I show her I did, she’ll get mad at me and not talk to me for at least 24 hours. Or she’ll message her bf immediately the second I do something she deems annoying.”

What Does OP Think?

OP genuinely believes that she’s only being nice to her the way she is now because of the tickets. She paid for hers, face value, and it’s still under my Ticketmaster account. If OP sells it, it would be face value as well, and she would be giving her the money back because, obviously, it’s her money.

What Is OP Thinking?

OP doesn’t feel comfortable going with her anymore, and she’s made it clear if we go, she expects to ride together/stay together. As dumb as it may be, OP is so sick of being treated like garbage because of her.

OP says, “I know it probably seems mean just to sell the ticket and take away her chance of seeing Taylor, but the idea of sitting next to her for 3 hours, plus the hours that it’ll take to drive there, plus any time in a hotel, makes me miserable.

She hasn’t paid for gas, hotel, or anything that she would be out money-wise for if I got rid of the ticket. And again, I would 10000% give her her money back because I am not a thief and would not steal anyone’s money.

Please weigh in here because the concert is in one month, and OP doesn’t know what to do because OP feels like it’s a jerk move, but at the same time, she knows she will be returning her money.

OP has also offered some clarifications. She says, “I want to sell the ticket completely because she will be RIGHT beside me the entire show. If I sell it, I understand the friendship is over. Still, with the way she is, the friendship is over the second I tell her I want to go separately anyway”

She also adds that many people are under the impression OP wants revenge, but that is not the case. She says, “I’d much rather go with her; we’ve been friends forever, but no matter what I do or say, she refuses to treat me the way I deserve as of recently. I would 100% talk to her before I sell the ticket; I’m just trying to get an opinion on how I should expect her to react.”

What do you think?

Here is what others have to say:

You Shouldn’t Have To Do Anything

“No, you are wrong. If you give her 100% of her money back. You shouldn’t have to spend much time with someone who makes you uncomfortable and miserable. It would take the joy out of the entire concert. And you don’t want that. But if you sell the ticket, all pretenses drop, and things between you two will get even worse. You’ll lose the friendship, such as it is. So, just be prepared to deal with the blowback.”

It is Her Ticket

“Yes, you will be wrong – It’s her ticket. If she wants to sell it, that’s up to her. However, you’re not obligated to go with her in the same vehicle.

She could sue you for selling her ticket since she paid for it.

You are currently the steward of her property. It’s not yours to do with what you want, even if you plan to give her back what she paid. SHE could sell it for a lot more if she decides not to go.”

You Don’t Have To Go With Her

“You are a jerk. She sounds like a bad friend, but the reality of your agreement and her payment is that that ticket belongs to her. You don’t have to go with her. But you do have to give her her ticket.”

“NTA life is too short to endure being next to a bad human for something you put in so much work to get. Karma’s a b*tch, she should have been a better friend. He”
