BACKSTORY
The original poster (OP) (F28) and her husband (M32) had their first child – a little boy who is now five months old. OP said their baby is amazing, and they are so in love with him.
After the birth, they only allowed their parents/siblings to see the baby so that they could have some time to settle into their new lives.
DECIDED TO HOST A BBQ
They didn’t want to be overrun with visitors but decided to host a BBQ that weekend so some extended family and friends could meet the baby.
OP said that it went really well, and everyone was so over the moon to see the little one. OP says that it wasn’t a huge gathering, maybe only 10 people.
OP TOOK HER BABY TO NURSE
At one point, OP took the baby inside for his lunch. She says that she was nursing him at the moment, so she went to his nursery so they could have some privacy. As most people were in the backyard, OP thought this would be a quiet spot for them.
THE NURSERY DOOR WAS OPENED
OP says that unbeknownst to her, her best friend’s (F27) husband (M29) needed the bathroom and came into the house at some point.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
OP thinks that he was having a bit of a snoop around because he ended up opening the door to the nursery where she was with the baby (which is nowhere near the bathroom) and inevitably found them.
HE WAS SHOCKED
OP says that he was quite shocked and fumbled his words a little bit before closing the door and leaving.
WHAT DID OP THINK?
OP was not very happy that this had happened because she had specifically gone looking for a quiet moment so the baby could eat, but it was what it was, and she thought it was over.
THEY LEFT THE PARTY
But when OP walked out of the house a little while later, she was surprised to see that her best friend and her husband had left.
WHAT DID HER HUSBAND SAY?
OP’s husband told her that when her best-friend’s-husband (BFH) came out of the house, he immediately reprimanded him for the fact that she was exposing herself and acting inappropriately in front of guests.
OP’S HUSBAND WAS CONFUSED
OP’s husband was very confused by what was going on, but her best friend’s husband basically just grabbed her friend, and the two of them left, leaving everyone else quite stunned.
WHAT DID HE SAY?
A few hours after everyone had gone home, OP’s best friend’s husband started a group chat with OP, her husband, and her best friend, and basically said that he could not believe how OP had exposed herself to him today when OP knew he was happily married, and that she should have more shame.
He said that OP was not setting a good example for her son, who would grow up as some kind of a mess because OP was refusing to feed him in a “normal and healthy way.”
HOW DID OP FEEL?
OP is quite upset about the whole thing, and no one has responded (her best friend has not even opened any of her other messages), but OP wonders if maybe she should have just gone with a bottle feed during the event so that this would never have happened.

I’m sure she’s told your friend that you just exposed your breast to him. He probably didn’t mention that he was snooping through all your house and stumbled upon the NURSERY, where you were FEEDING your child, behind a CLOSED door!
Had he not been snooping, he would have never seen a thing. I mean, has this person never been to your house before, where he would have to search through the house to find the bathroom? Why is he just randomly opening closed doors without knocking first?
You’re definitely not a jerk, though, but your BFH is a very large one for several reasons.”
HE IS SHAMELESS
“By his reasoning, accidentally opening a door on someone using a toilet would also be ‘exposing yourself in public’.
He is trying to find a way to make sure he is blameless. This is very nasty behavior on his part.”
