She was excited about the dinner night and spending time at his boyfriend’s place. But it turned out to be awful.

BACK STORY
The original poster ( OP ) has been dating Jay for four months. OP says that Jay is handsome, smart, funny, well-educated, has an awesome job, and is a sweetheart.
That Sunday, OP’s boyfriend had a whole day planned for them.
WHAT WERE THEY DOING
They were going to walk a nature trail and then go back to OP’s boyfriend’s place for dinner. OP says that she was so excited because it was going to be the first time she’d be at his house.
Since they were hiking, OP’s boyfriend told her that OP could bring her dog Shelby with them.
HE MADE A DELICIOUS DINNER
OP’s boyfriend made them a roast and some vegetables for dinner. OP finished her plate before Jay did and took it to the kitchen.
She says that “There was still about half the roast left, and it was close to Shelby’s dinner time, so she took half of the roast and some still raw vegetables from the fridge to put on a plate for Shelby.”
HE TOOK THE PLATE
OP was carrying the plate to the back door with Shelby to feed her outside, and Jay asked her what she was doing. OP told him that she was feeding Shelby.
Jay replied that it was not dog food.
WHAT DID OP SAY
OP says that Jay knows that she mainly feeds Shelby a raw diet.
He said that she opened the door to put the plate down for Shelby, and her boyfriend got up, took the plate away from the dog, went to the kitchen, and came back with it wrapped up in tinfoil and told her to leave.
OP WAS SHOCKED
OP says that his excuse was that he made dinner for her and him, not for the dog, and that she should’ve asked before she helped herself since he would’ve used his leftovers.
She left, but not before telling him that he made that meal for them so she could do with some of it as she pleased, and he knew damn well how she fed Shelby.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT
OP tried talking to her friend about it later that night, but she said Jay was right to be upset. But this friend has never really approved of how OP treats her dog, so OP feels like she was probably a bit biased and the wrong person to ask.
OP asks if she was a jerk to feed her dog.

OP WAS WRONG
“You are a jerk for feeding your dog a cooked and seasoned roast, OP! There’s feeding raw, and then there’s feeding something that was seasoned for humans. On top of everything else, don’t claim you “feed raw” and then tell us you are feeding your dog human-seasoned meat and vegetables. Jeez.”
OP WAS ENTITLED
“A quarter of a roast is not “table scraps.” How is the fact that you mainly feed your dog a raw diet at all relevant? Also, holy entitlement Batman at “You made that dinner for me so I can do with it as I please!” – by that logic, it would have been perfectly acceptable to flush it down the toilet.”
