Caring for an infant is a demanding task, requiring constant attention and care, especially if you are the only adult present. The Original Poster (OP) took it to the forum, and asked “Am I wrong for kidnapping my baby leading to my husband having a panic attack?”. We want to know from you.
BACKSTORY
The OP is a 29 year old female, who recently started working again after having her daughter.
Her daughter is just 4 months old and daycare was just too expensive for them, so her husband decided to stay at home and take care of their daughter.
HUSBAND’S NATURE
OP said that her husband is extremely lazy and has been unemployed since 2021. He doesn’t do any of the household chores and doesn’t help her out in any way.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
The OP was a little skeptical about leaving her daughter to her husband’s care, but she didn’t have any choice, so she decided to go for it.
HOW WERE THE INITIAL DAYS?
The initial days were pretty fine, OP was really happy with her decision.
She would either see her daughter sound asleep in her bed, or her husband playing with her daughter, etc.
THE SHOCKING DISCOVERY
It was after a few days when OP had a conversation with her neighbor and found out shocking things about what was going on behind her back.
The neighbor told her that the moment OP leaves for work, her daughter starts crying and she continues crying for hours.
The neighbor also told OP that one day she knocked on their door and after waiting for a significant amount of time, he opened the door and she found out that he was sleeping.
THE PLAN
OP understood that her husband was just sleeping all day and would just start taking care of their daughter right before she would come back home from work.
She crafted a perfect plan to find out the truth and catch him red-handed.
THE EXECUTION
OP took a day off and left home at her usual time, pretending to go to work. She waited for 30 minutes and went back.
She went back and found her husband asleep with his noise-canceling headphones on.
OP went to her daughter’s room, picked her up, and left for her friend’s house. She waited there for about 2 hours and then called her husband to inform him that she was coming back home early.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
OP’s husband called her back after a while, saying that he could not find their baby. He was going to call the police, but before he did so, OP confessed what she did.
THE BACKLASH
OP’s husband, as well as her mother-in-law verbally abused her and also called her a terrible person.
WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK?
“Sleeping with noise-canceling headphones as the only adult in the home caring for a 4M old? You absolutely did nothing wrong.”, said one user.
“You are lucky your neighbor told you and didn’t call the cops. Because this is neglect, and dangerous. I’d divorce my husband over this period.”, said another user.
