Love is the foundation of a healthy relationship, but trust and respect are essential pillars that support it.
The Original Poster (OP) took it to the forum, and asked “Am I wrong for refusing to meet my boyfriend’s friends unless they apologized to me?”. We want to know from you.
BACKSTORY
A few weeks ago, OP’s boyfriend’s friends found a tinder account with OP’s pictures in it. Their accounts got matched.
OP NEVER MET HER BOYFRIEND’S FRIENDS
Although OP never met her boyfriend’s friends, they knew how she looked as her boyfriend showed them her pictures.
THEY INFORMED OP’S BOYFRIEND
They informed OP’s boyfriend about this tinder account and her boyfriend immediately called OP to tell her about this entire incident.
SHE KNEW IT WASN’T HERS
OP knew that the account wasn’t hers because she stopped using Tinder for over a year now, and Tinder usually deletes inactive accounts after 7 days.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
Then on the next weekend, his friends messaged with that Tinder account and informed OP’s boyfriend about it. But OP’s boyfriend found it a little hard to believe considering him and OP were watching a movie that day at the same time.
HIS FRIENDS WEREN’T CONVINCED
His friends just didn’t want to believe that the profile wasn’t OP’s and that she wasn’t cheating.
THEY STARTED YELLING
His friends then called OP’s boyfriend and started saying horrible things about OP, calling her all sorts of names.
OP WAS ON THE VERGE OF TEARS
Her boyfriend asked them not to do it because OP was almost about to cry.
THE LOYALTY TEST
They made OP sit on a FaceTime call with everyone else and show them her phone’s screen as well. Then one of his friends started texting that woman, and she responded while OP was still holding the phone in front of the camera. OP was proven innocent.
THEY NEVER APOLOGIZED
Next week those friends are hosting a party and OP’s boyfriend wants OP to go there and meet his friends for the first time.
OP clearly told her boyfriend that she wouldn’t go as long as they apologize to her in person. She wasn’t okay with his friends apologizing only to him, and not to OP.
Her boyfriend told her that it would mean a lot to him if she could adjust a little bit. Now OP wants to know if she is wrong.
WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK?
“Why does your boyfriend have such disgusting friends? That’s concerning. Sounds like a really uncomfortable situation you’d be entering into.
You have to decide if you want to give them a chance to apologize in person, or stand your ground and only go if they apologize first. But that might cause issues too if they see you as a problem.”, said one user.
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE
“No. There is no way I would sit there and go through that interrogation and ‘prove’ I wasn’t lying, especially if my bf had no prior reason not to trust me.”, said another user.
