BACKSTORY
OP and her husband met 8 years ago, and they have been married for 6 years. OP’s husband has a 6-year-old daughter from his previous relationship.
WHO TAKES CARE OF HER?
OP usually works from home and always ends up taking care of her stepdaughter.
HOW IS OP’S RELATIONSHIP WITH HER STEP-DAUGHTER
They generally have a good relationship. Her stepdaughter stays at their place for the entire week and goes over to her mother’s place on weekends.
HER HAIR
OP’s stepdaughter has long blonde wavy hair. It is very long, almost past her bottom. It is very tough to take care of. Brushing and styling her hair takes almost hours.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
OP decided to take her stepdaughter to cut her hair.
WHY DID SHE DECIDE THAT?
OP isn’t a morning person, and she doesn’t like waking up in the morning to do her stepdaughter’s hair. Also, her step-daughter was obsessed with her hair, according to OP.
She insisted on using expensive products that she finishes within a very short period of time. OP wanted her step-daughter to stop wasting her time in all of these and use her time to help her with household chores.
WHAT DID OP DO?
OP took her stepdaughter to the hair salon. She informed her where they were going while they were in the car.
WHAT WAS THE DAUGHTER’S REACTION?
OP’s stepdaughter kept requesting OP so that she doesn’t get her hair cut short. OP kept insisting and took her to the salon.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
In the salon, OP’s daughter started to cry, but the hairdresser cut her hair anyway, based on OP’s instructions. They came back home and the daughter went to her room silently.
WHAT DID THE HUSBAND DO?
When OP’s husband returned from work, he went to his daughter’s room and found her crying. He immediately called her mother and asked her to take her daughter to her place for the night.
The mother came and expressed her resentment towards OP. As soon as they left, OP’s husband also started screaming at OP, and told her he could no longer trust her around his kids, and that he doesn’t know if he can be with a woman whom he can’t trust around his kids.
OP asks the forum if what she did was wrong.
