BACKSTORY
OP’s mother always packs some snacks for herself whenever she travels. It is usually a ham and cheese sandwich.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
OP was driving her mother to the airport and he asked her about the food she picked for herself.
A TUNA SALAD SANDWICH
OP got to know from his mother that because of the shortage of time, she packed herself a tuna salad sandwich.
WAS IT FOR THE AIRPORT?
OP asked his mother whether she was planning to eat it at the airport or take it inside the flight.
WHAT DID SHE SAY?
His mother said that it was not for the airport and that she would take it to the flight in case she feels hungry midair.
WHAT DID OP SAY?
OP told his mother that it was okay if she wanted to have the sandwich before boarding the flight, but it would be a very bad idea to take it on the flight.
IT’S GONNA SMELL
OP told his mother that one shouldn’t carry tuna inside such close quarters with the recycled area, and that it would smell really bad and the other passengers might not be okay with it.
THE MOTHER DIDN’T BOTHER
No matter how many times OP tried to convince his mother, she just wasn’t ready to listen to anything he had to say.
WHAT DID OP DO?
While his mother was busy unloading the luggage, OP tossed the sandwich in the trash and made sure she didn’t notice it until she reached security.
After a while, OP received an angry text from his mother when she finally noticed it.

She’s an adult, she can make her own decisions. She wouldn’t be the first & won’t be the last to eat something smelly on a plane.
They don’t throw people off planes for eating. You did nothing but needlessly upset your mother. You’re not the hero in this story.”, said one user.
THEY AREN’T AS SMELLY
“But already prepared tuna fish sandwiches aren’t as smelly as a hot meal they serve on some planes or heated fish. As someone sensitive to food smells, tuna is usually not that big a deal if it’s a cold sandwich eaten quickly. And if the plane also serves it, it defeats the purpose of throwing away the mom’s food.”, said another user.
