It feels good to be able to do something with my body finally. I’ve been fortunate enough to live somewhere with a very basic gym 3 minutes away, so I’m there most days.

“I’m a runner because I love the adrenaline and competition. Other times it’s because no one believed in me as a kid, so then I went on to run a marathon, then run the Boston Marathon while still in college; now, I’m training for a 100mi race in the rocky mountains. I’m just that dude that needs to be better than yesterday.”

“Exercising is the best form of self-care, in my opinion. The world also treats you better if you’re in shape. I can definitely tell the difference compared to when I was overweight. Women are way nicer, and other men give you more respect.”

“Diabetes sucks, and I don’t want to develop it. Plus, I like being active. I want to be able to continue to hike, cycle, and ski well into my senior years.
I’m also a physician, so every day, I see the stark difference between people who worked out and took care of themselves and those who didn’t. The differences start to manifest in their 30’s, and it becomes a gaping chasm in their 50’s.”
TO AVOID HEART DISEASE AND STROKE
“Preventative maintenance. Don’t want heart disease or a stroke 20 years from now.”

“To live longer. I hope to make it to my son’s wedding in approx 20/30 years, and I’m 50 already.”
