Witches have fascinated and terrified people for centuries. They are often depicted as powerful and mysterious women who use their magic for good or evil.
A user asked the forum, Am I a jerk for telling my sister she’s not a witch?
BACK STORY
The original poster (OP) is 20 years old, and her sister is 22. OP says that her sister has become obsessed with witch stuff and thought it was just an aesthetic.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
But OP got to know that she genuinely believes in some weird stuff. OP says that her sister has an altar at her apartment and tries selling blessings and hexes on Etsy.
WEIRD GIFT
It was OP’s birthday recently, and OP’S sister got her a rock. OP laughed at first before realizing her sister was serious.
OP GOT ANGRY
Later, OP was angry because she bought her sister an iPhone portable charger, and OP said that her sister earns more than her.
FIND BETTER HOBBIES
So OP snapped at her and said it’s all bad and said that her sister needs a reality check and to find better hobbies. It turns out that OP’s sister has been crying to their mom.
OP asks if she is a jerk.
THAT’S A WEIRD GIFT
“As a witch myself, I agree with this. Don’t get someone a present you know they won’t be interested in. I’ve never given anyone literal rocks as gifts, even if they have been soaked in moon water or taken from a power spot. (I keep those rocks for myself.)”
SELFISH
“Agreed. I would look at a witch giving me a “witch rock,” like a Christian gave me a Tupperware full of holy water. A piece of junk that only means something to them and is a completely selfish present. OP could have maybe not knocked the sister’s hobbies, but the witch rock gift is ridiculous. I don’t care if it has good energy or a spell on it.”
IT IS NOT FAIR
“She tried pushing her religion on you and got you a damn rock for your birthday. You could have been more respectful of her beliefs, though. You could have explained that you don’t believe in that kind of thing and are insulted by her gift.”
SHE NEEDS A REALITY CHECK
“She needs a reality check. Then again, send her a Hogwarts invite to mess with her.”
IT IS A WORTHLESS GIFT
“I would also be upset if a close family member tried to push their religion on me. Even if she had “good intentions,” she should know that to you, it’s just a worthless rock. This was an insulting gift, and she’s upset you called her out on it.”
