Most people tell white lies in their daily lives. These lies are not meant to be harmful or deceptive, but they are often told to avoid awkward situations or conversations.
A user took it to the forum, and asked “What is an obvious lie that people still fall for?”
LET’S GET TOGETHER SOON
“This one bothers me. I try to make plans with people I haven’t seen in a few years, and they assume I’m just being polite and go along, knowing they will never actually text me to make plans. When I say “let’s meet up at the bar some time”, I actually want to meet up at a bar, give me your schedule, and I’ll tell you the night that works best for me”, said one user.
“I like to think people actually do mean it in the moment but then they go back to their life routines and it kind of gets lost. It’s not always intentional to ignore”, said another user.
I’LL DO IT LATER
“I just keep thinking I will learn my lesson, yet I do not. This also applies to every other bad habit in my life”, said one user.
“I tell myself I’ll get fuel after work. Then I am too tired and can’t be bothered”, said another user.
MENU OPTIONS HAVE CHANGED
“Like 100% of the time it has not, they just leave that up once they change it indefinitely”, said one user.
JUST ONE MORE
“That is the beauty of it, it applies to so many things. One more lane to fix traffic, one more page in this book before I go to bed, one more turn in a game, one more try and I’ll succeed, one more episode, etc.” said one user.
WE ARE LIKE FAMILY HERE
“‘We are like family here’ at any job interview. And you spend way more time fixing things for them around holidays than you expected”, said one user.
I’M FINE
“NO NOTHING IS WRONG I SAID I’M FINE!!!!!!!!!”, said one user.
“Hey now, this hit a little too close to home!”, another user replied.
JUST ONE MINUTE
“Just give me a minute!! I’m finishing up this quest”, said one user
“Biggest self deception ever! still works”, said another user.
I’LL CALL YOU RIGHT BACK
“Yeah, this one right here. hurt to realize after all those times it’s been said to me. The day it hit me I was like gosh. Learned to not get my hopes up anymore when people say that”, said one user.
I’LL LET YOU KNOW
“‘I’ll let you know’ is a way of saying ‘i don’t like to give a hard no but it’s a no’”, said one user.
YOU GOT SOMETHING ON YOUR SHIRT
“My 7 year old niece falls for it every time”, said one user.
“Taught my son to do this when he was 3. He did it to anyone and everyone he met for like 3 months. Hilarious every time. Grandma was not amused”, said another user.
NO WORRIES
“‘No worries!’ when someone asks me for something. Actually, I have lots of worries”, said one user.
I’LL GO TO GYM TOMORROW
“But when you reach tomorrow, it becomes “today”. And you said “tomorrow” not “today” so you’ve got to wait for tomorrow”, said one user.
