Stripping is a controversial profession, and many people have strong opinions about it. Some people believe that it is a degrading and exploitative job, while others believe that it is a legitimate form of sex work.
A user took to the forum and asked: “Am I wrong for refusing to help my daughter with her car payment because she is a stripper?”
We want to hear from you.
Backstory
The Original Poster (OP) is a 47 year old male, and have a 22 year old daughter. She is in college and lives on campus. OP agreed to help her make car payments since she was still in school.
OP Was Informed
OP was recently informed by a young man OP works with that his daughter strips at a club about 40 minutes away.
What Did OP Do
OP confronted her on this, and she said she didn’t plan to do it after she graduated and she needed some money. OP told her then work at McDonald’s or any other place that hire teens but not use her body.
What Happened Next?
They got into an argument, and OP asked her to quit stripping and get a decent job then.
She Refused
She refused and said stripping was easy money, so OP said there was no need for me to pay her car payment anymore since she is making money so easily.
What Did She Do
She got upset and said that wasn’t fair, and that she doesn’t make enough for that. OP told her to figure it out. She told my wife about what happened, and my wife is upset by her job of choice but says it’s unfair for me to stop supporting her so suddenly over an argument.
However, OP think it’s perfectly fair, it’s his money and his decision when to cut it off.
What Others Say
“You are a jerk by adding conditions to your agreement after the fact, for shaming your daughter, and for not being a man of your word.
You Are A Jerk For Judging Her
“You are a jerk. It’s her body to use as she pleases. You’re within your rights to stop supporting her but you’re being an jerk for judging her. If you have an issue with stripping maybe do something about all the men that go to strip clubs”
You’re Making Moral Judgments
“You are a jerk. Completely up to you if you want to stop helping her with car payments. She’s an adult at 22 with a job and her own financial responsibilities. You are wrong because you’re making moral judgements on what she does and making threats over financial help unless she does what you want.”
