Some people are just too annoying to deal with. Like, they’d LITERALLY force you to do something you don’t really want to. Here’s an incident that involves a similar situation.

A netizen recently asked, “Am I a jerk for refusing to share my food with my co-worker?”. We need you to find out!

The Original Poster (OP) (22F) works in a busy office with several co-workers, and one of them, Lisa (26F), has been causing a bit of drama recently. OP is not sure if she’s (OP) the jerk in this situation.

When Did It All Start?

It all started when Lisa noticed that OP often brought delicious homemade lunches to the office. She began making comments about how she’d love to try her cooking and suggested that OP bring extra portions to share with everyone.

“While I don’t mind sharing occasionally, I didn’t feel obligated to do so every day.”, says OP.

One day, Lisa saw OP heating up her lunch, which was a special dish OP had prepared for her anniversary with her husband. Lisa asked if OP could share some with her and a few other co-workers.

OP politely declined, explaining that it was a special meal for her anniversary, and OP had made just enough for the two of them.

Lisa seemed offended and said OP was being selfish. She continued making comments about how OP should be more giving and share her food with her co-workers to foster a better office environment.

OP tried to explain that it wasn’t her responsibility to provide food for everyone, but Lisa didn’t seem to understand.

A Few Days Later

A few days later, Lisa confronted OP again, asking if she could at least have a taste of whatever OP brought that day. OP was getting frustrated with her constant requests and told her no, which led to a heated argument in the office kitchen.

“Other colleagues got involved, and it turned into an uncomfortable situation.”, says OP.

OP’s Thoughts Right Now

“Now, I’m wondering if I overreacted by not sharing my lunch with Lisa and whether I should have been more accommodating. Am I a jerk for refusing to share my food with my co-worker?”, asks OP.

She Sounds Bizarre!

“Absolutely not the jerk. This is so weird to me. I can’t even imagine having Lisa’s mindset and thinking I’m entitled to someone else’s lunch. That’s bizarre.

Honestly, I think you should go to management or HR at this point. Someone needs to talk to Lisa about her inappropriate behavior. You shouldn’t have to deal with her pestering you every time you have your lunch.”

“Not the jerk. You are under absolutely no obligation to share your food with a colleague. You are not a personal chef. Your management or HR should be talking to Lisa about her antics. It’s ridiculous that it went this far.”

Report Lisa To HR

“Not the jerk! Lisa is basically harassing you. You aren’t obligated to share any food with them. If it were a potluck scenario it would be different but that’s not the case here. Report Lisa to HR if she keeps this up”

“Not the jerk. What is wrong with her? You’re under no obligation to share your food with her.

I’d suggest talking to HR about this as Lisa clearly has boundary issues”
